The club are delighted to announce that this season the historic link with UBRFC and Clifton Rugby Club has been reignited, the club have had a rich history with Clifton Rugby Club with many players playing for both team throughout the years. Throughout the year a number of leavers have worn the lavender and black of Clifton having departed the University.

Clifton Rugby Club consistently play at a high level finishing 3rd in the National 2 West League last season giving the club the opportunity to learn and develop with some of the best in the area. Initially the clubs will hold joint training sessions together through the preseason with some players being offered the chance to train with the side when they are available in the season.

Club Manager Olly Slym said; “Our BUCS rugby program comes first and always will as we strive to be promoted but the link will give some players an opportunity and a taste of senior rugby in moments through the year, this will only improve them as players and the clubs passion to be promoted”.

Matt Salter who is Director of Rugby and ex Head of Rugby at the University of Bristol knows first hand the success this link can be for both clubs, “We thrilled to confirm this link with the University of Bristol. It will allow us to share ideas, resources and offer students a chance of playing National 2 rugby”

The clubs will face each other in a live training session under the lights at Clifton Rugby Club on September 5th.
